Basecamp is the project management tool from 37signals and the loudest critic of per-seat pricing. It charges one flat monthly price for the whole company, a stance it has kept since 2004 even as the number changed.

The plan has been listed since Mar 2012, starting at $150. It came down to $99 by Nov 2016 (-34%), then went up to $299 by Jan 2023 (+202%), and finally came down to $199 by Nov 2026 (-33%).

Basecamp has always sold a flat company-wide price rather than seats. The 2012 tiers were split by number of projects, from $20 to $150. Basecamp 3 launched at $99 flat in 2016. Since 2023 the flat plan is Pro Unlimited at $299 billed annually, $349 monthly, next to a $15 per user plan for small teams. In November 2026 Pro Unlimited is cheaper, $199 billed annually and $329 monthly, and sits above new capped packages: Freelancer at $29 with 5 users, Pro at $79 with 10 and Pro Plus at $99 with 15.

Across the 6 plans we chart, list prices over the last three years are rising, by a median 7% a year. Increases outnumber cuts, 23 to 6.
How are the price predictions calculated?
Each plan gets a compound yearly rate of change between its first and latest observed list price within the last 36 months. The 6 and 12 month figures apply that rate to the latest price. Plans moving more than 100 percent a year are not projected, and a plan needs at least three observations spanning nine months. It is arithmetic on past list prices, not a forecast of what any company will do.
