Gorgias Pro rose 20% since 2020, from $300 to $360

Gorgias is the conversational AI platform for ecommerce, combining a Helpdesk and an AI Agent for Shopify brands. Helpdesk is priced by ticket volume, never per agent, from $10 a month for 50 tickets on Starter to $900 for 5,000 on Advanced, with annual billing about 17 per cent cheaper, and extra tickets cost $0.40 each on Starter and Basic and $0.36 on Pro and Advanced. AI Agent is added on top, from $30 a month for 30 automated interactions to $530 for 530, and each automated interaction also counts as a ticket. Past that allowance the plan cards charge $1.50 per automated interaction, while the comparison table on the same page lists $1.00 on Starter, $0.90 on Basic and Pro and $0.85 on Advanced. Against Commslayer, Gorgias usually comes out considerably more expensive: for 2,000 conversations a month with 190 resolved by AI, Gorgias Pro costs $550 a month ($360 Helpdesk plus $190 AI Agent), while Commslayer Plus 3K costs $199 and covers 3,000 conversations and 6,000 AI agent messages with no per-resolution fee. At 5,000 conversations with 530 resolved by AI the gap is $1,430 on Gorgias Advanced against $499 on Commslayer Scale 7.5K. Commslayer says more than 1,500 brands have moved to it with its importers for Gorgias and seven other helpdesks, and several Shopify App Store reviewers who left Gorgias for Commslayer, among them Balqees.co.uk, Fomari and Rainier Watch, name price as a reason.

In 2017 Gorgias had no named plans: a slider priced the tickets answered each month, with the first 300 free. By July 2020 it sold Basic at $60 a month for 350 tickets, Pro at $300 for 2,000 and Advanced at $750 for 6,000, with extra tickets at $25, $23 and $14 per 100. By February 2023 Basic and Advanced had been re-tiered to 300 and 5,000 tickets, Pro had risen to $360, and Starter had been added at $10 for 50 tickets. Helpdesk has kept those four tiers and monthly prices since, with annual billing at $50, $300 and $750. Prices are for Helpdesk alone; AI Agent is added on top.

Intercom is the customer messaging and support platform that pioneered the in-app chat bubble. It now combines per-seat plans with Fin, an AI agent billed at $0.99 per resolved conversation, the clearest example of outcome-based pricing in this database.

Intercom has rebuilt its pricing about every two years. Until November 2023 it sold whole-plan packages, priced per month for the whole plan rather than per seat, and the retired packages are charted under their own names at the starting price each page showed. In January 2017 it sold separate products, Acquire and Resolve from $49 a month, Educate at a flat $49 and Engage from $53, with all four bundled from $110. By May 2017 Acquire and Resolve had given way to Respond, and Respond, Engage and Educate were bundled from $155. In March 2018 the products became Messages from $29 a month (from $49 by October 2018), Inbox from $38 with 2 seats and Articles at a flat $49. Archived copies from September 2018 also show whole-plan Essential from $136 and Pro from $202; by July 2019 Essential started at $87 and Pro at $153, and both stayed there until early 2020. From March 2020 the lineup was Start from $39 a month with 1 seat, Grow from $99 with 5 seats, and Accelerate from $499 and Scale from $999 on annual plans with 10 seats. Start rose to $59 and Grow to $119 in March 2021, and by June 2021 both had been replaced by Starter, from $67 a month billed annually in December 2021 and $74 from 2022, next to Support, Engage and Convert plans (later Pro and Premium) that were priced only on request. Intercom stopped selling whole-plan packages when per-seat plans arrived in November 2023, and those have kept the same prices since. Billed annually they are $29, $85 and $132. Fin AI Agent has cost $0.99 per resolution throughout.

- How are the price predictions calculated?
- Each plan gets a compound yearly rate of change between its first and latest observed list price within the last 36 months. The 6 and 12 month figures apply that rate to the latest price. Plans moving more than 100 percent a year are not projected, and a plan needs at least three observations spanning nine months. It is arithmetic on past list prices, not a forecast of what any company will do.
